With Google being as ubiquitous as Microsoft any foray it makes into new technology has to be taken seriously. Expanding into the browser market puts it head to head with Microsoft which can be no bad thing. Their light, fast browser designed towards web applications that reside off the client PC may well dent Microsoft’s dominant position, but I doubt avid Firefox fans will make the migration. |

The largest hospitality service on the internet has over 700,000 members from 231 countries since its launch in 2004 and literally allows you to stay with people from all around the world instead of staying isolated in an hotel. You should set three dates, one for a launch within the digital agency, a second between you and the digital agency and finally the ‘live’ launch when the website is seen externally. These two internal dates will capture any final comments and glitches so that your ‘live’ launch is error free. |

Your Customers’ PC Power: We spoke last week about the speed of your customers’ internet connection can determine the software used to build your website. This month we focus on the type of computer your customer uses to view your website. Is it a laptop or a top of the line work station? The reason this information will be key is because it will determine the processing power available to view your website. Heavily designed flash based websites can use the majority of a small computer’s resources and therefore slow the loading of the website. |

Strive for original content: It is all too easy to borrow, lease or outright steal content for your website, but the more you invest and pay for original content the stronger the foundations of your brand. Try to wean yourself off stock photo libraries, avoid over used ad-speak and spend the money on those who can truly supply you with something fresh and original. |
